Every person loves appreciation. In fact, everyone seeks it in some form. From a baby waiting for a smile from its mother, to a student hoping for recognition from a teacher… from an employee expecting a “well done” from their boss, appreciation is something that connects us all.
I am no different.
I put in my full effort in everything I do, hoping to be recognized. Like a school girl striving for the first rank, I carry that same mindset in my work to give my best and stand out through dedication. Sometimes, the appreciation we expect comes to us. And sometimes, it doesn’t.
But what truly amazes me is this, the most beautiful appreciation is the one that comes unexpectedly. A simple “good job” when you least expect it can bring the greatest joy.
Over the past one year, from May 2025 to April 2026, during my fellowship journey, appreciation has not just been a word, it has been my driving force.
My project is part of a flagship initiative by SIDBI, focused on empowering farmers through the construction of a Common Facility Centre (CFC). It is also a significant step, as it marks one of the first times SIDBI is directly engaging in the agriculture sector.
Being a small part of such a vast and impactful project often felt like being a drop in the ocean. There were challenges, hurdles, and moments of doubt. At times, I questioned whether I was capable enough to handle such responsibility.
But one thing never changed the constant appreciation and encouragement from my seniors, points of contact, and leadership team.
“Well done.”
“Super.”
“Great job.”
“I know she will do it.”
These are not just words to me. They are moments of strength, confidence, and reassurance.
There were also moments when people doubted me saying I was too young or not experienced enough to handle such a project. But in those moments, my POC, Praveen sir, stood by me with an unwavering belief. He would confidently say, “She will do it.”
That trust did something powerful.
It gave me confidence to perform, and at the same time, a sense of responsibility to prove that belief right. Appreciation builds confidence, but trust builds accountability.

I also realized something important which is appreciation doesn’t have to come from just one person. When it comes from different people, at the right time, it creates a strong support system. It pushes you forward, even on the days when you feel like stepping back.
Today, when I look back at this journey, I understand that appreciation is not just about praise. It is about being seen, being trusted, and being encouraged to grow.
Appreciation is a small gesture, but it holds immense power.
It can transform self-doubt into confidence, fear into responsibility, and effort into achievement. While we all seek appreciation, we should also remember to give it because our words might become someone else’s motivation.
And most importantly, we should learn to appreciate ourselves too.
Because sometimes, the journey is tough, the efforts go unnoticed, and the challenges feel endless but if we keep going, one day, even the smallest “well done” will feel like the biggest victory.
