A note to all our donors for Uttarakhand floods

14 Days since we sent out an appeal for donating generously for the Uttarakhand flood relief and rehabilitation activities – proceeds of which will go to a committed platform of volunteers, organizations and tribe of donors, lead by iVolunteer (ivolunteer.in). We have received overwhelming response which shows not only how deeply grieved we are, but also our solidarity and commitment towards restoring in the beautiful mountain valleys of Uttarakhand what we can in our best of capacities. Over 100 people have donated and nearly 14 lacs rupees raised in 14 days. The idea has become a movement and now is the time to act.

In mid July, once the evacuation and relief material distribution work is complete, a core team of 3 members will make a visit to the disaster hit areas of Kedar valley and interact extensively with – grassroots NGOs and other institutions working there relentlessly, army and government personnel stationed there to fast track the rehabilitation process, experts in the matters of livelihoods and the Himalayan region and of course the local communities worst affected by it all. Based on this, a detailed program plan will be charted and already dedicated volunteers are being mobilized and partnerships formed, who will lead the implementation of the program in selected villages there. Watch this space for updates on the findings and plan in near future.

But before proceeding, the team would like to take a moment and thank you for not only your significant contribution in growing this fund pool but also for having faith. These are tough times and we need to be useful in every way possible. In that regard, you have been the pioneers in this initiative; being the first set of people to donate. Rest assured the money will be put to best use possible and you will be posted of the same from time to tome. Also, we will like to at this point ask you to spread the word in your own networks and help us reach the 1 crore target which is the sum being looked at for doing rehabilitation work in about 10 to 12 villages.

Thank you once again.
