Mathematics is an essential skill that every child should learn. It is the foundation for many professions and helps build analytical and problem-solving skills that are essential in everyday life. Unfortunately, not all children have access to quality education in mathematics, which can impact their future opportunities. This is why iVolunteer conducted a two-hour session called ‘Study Math for a Better Path’ for Safe Society Organisation’s Kids.
The Safe Society is an organisation which provides a safe and nurturing environment for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. iVolunteer recognized the importance of teaching these children mathematics as it can open doors for them in the future.
The activity aimed to teach basic math skills to children aged 3 to 14 years old. The session was held through the Zoom meeting platform and was conducted by a team of iVolunteer volunteers. The volunteers used a variety of teaching methods, including games, activities, and visual aids, to make learning fun and engaging for the children. The volunteers focused on teaching the basic concepts of addition, subtraction, and multiplication which are essential for more advanced math skills.
The children were divided into four groups, and each group had two dedicated volunteers to teach them. The volunteers used interactive activities to make the learning experience more enjoyable for the children.
The session was a resounding success, and the children enjoyed learning mathematics in a fun and interactive way. They learned the basic concepts of addition, subtraction, and multiplication and they were able to apply these skills to solve simple math problems. The children also learned that mathematics can be fun and interesting, which could help to change their attitudes towards the subject.
Safe Society is very happy with the initiative and is willing to conduct more sessions on other subjects too. iVolunteer is always eager to work with communities to promote education and development among children from disadvantaged backgrounds and would be happy to collaborate and extend support.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so we’ve included some snapshots of iVolunteer’s math teaching session for safe society kids.
