What is your role as a Volunteer?

Teaching a group of 18-20 young school going girls from Tiljala SHED – Spoken English.

How has volunteering helped you as an Individual ?

Yes. It has helped me enrich my life as a human being and made my soul happy being able to give back to the society in whatever small way I could.

Your learning from volunteering ?

Volunteering is an enriching experience. However it is seroius business as well and one needs to really plan out his/her project well and split it into small & measurable mini-projects. You also have to be very patient with your class and understand their socio-economic background to be able to make a differemce.

What did you love about your project ?

Teaching is one of those rare professions that keeps your brain young, allowing you to continue your own journey as a student and a lifelong learner. I was reminiscent about my own school days and realised how hard my teachers worked on me so that I could become what I am today.

Share one incident which was the highlight of your volunteering experience

Personally, I experienced many great moments while teaching at Tiljala Shed. However, on a certain class, it was really heratwarming to see a little girl named Rosy, attending the class with her elder sister, kept pace with the other students and participated on a role play effort.

Your thoughts on this project?

It is great platform for all to give back to the society. Being able to see the positive impact you make is a great feeling!

On a scale of 1-10, how likely are you to recommend Volunteering to a friend?
