In early 2009 Shalabh, Rahul met Dr Nachiket Mor of ICICI Bank to talk about creating a Full time fellowship program for young people in India. After a lot of hard work by iVolunteer and ICICI’s team led by Prerana Langa ICICI Fellows was born. A 2 year program asking young people to take a bigger step and see beyond their jobs and careers.
In the next 4 years of the program we recruited some of the best and brightest in India to embark on a journey that will change their lives for ever. And it did. For almost all of the Fellows and us. ICICI Fellows put me in touch with people who I admire, love and are now friends for life.
ICICI Fellows is something that we are very proud of creating. All the team members including Madhukar and Yasmin literally put in their blood and sweat into the program. So when the program ended in 2013, it felt a hole in the heart. I guess all good things comes to an end, eventually.
But the team at iVolunteer was so inspired by ICICI Fellows that we have taken a leap of faith and started India Fellows. The original inspiration and design of the program is on the lines of ICICI Fellows program. With experience we got wiser so we have tweaked the design a bit.
In year 1 we have a modest goal of getting a few Fellows start their journey.
