On 27th January 2025, my co-fellows and I set off on a fascinating journey to Bhuj, in the Kutch region of Gujarat. This city, once devastated by the 2001 earthquake, witnessed entire settlements displaced, artisans forced to rebuild their lives from scratch, and a massive effort by the government and NGOs to rehabilitate communities in earthquake-resistant homes.
While Bhuj carries a somber history, its story is also one of incredible strength and resilience. The way its people, especially the tribal and artisan communities, rose from the ruins and reimagined their lives is truly inspiring.
This photo blog is my attempt to capture the spirit of Bhuj, its rich art and culture, its vibrant communities, and the quiet beauty woven into its everyday life.

The Art and Artists

Landscapes, Flavors, and Stories

As our journey in Bhuj came to an end, it was time to pack our bags and part ways with this remarkable land. But while we left the city behind, we carried something far more lasting, stories etched in every wall, every smile, every shared meal, and every dusty road we walked together. Bhuj gave us more than just memories; it gave us perspective, resilience, and a deeper connection to the roots that hold a community together. These stories will stay with us, long after the trip, quietly reminding us of the strength in simplicity, and the beauty of starting again.
