Yoga is not just a physical activity , it is way of life . It connects our body , mind, and soul. Every year , on 21st June , the world comes together to celebrate international yoga day .
But more than a celebration, this day reminds us …
Are we giving time to ourselves ?
Are we taking care of our inner peace?
Today, when i celebrated yoga Day in school with students and teachers , I felt something deep, something peaceful. Something powerful.
Why do we celebrate Yoga Day on 21st June ?
International Yoga Day was started in 2015, when India’s prime minister Narendra Modi ji suggested it at the United Nations.
The date 21st june was chosen because it is the longest day of the year , which shows energy and balance in nature.
Since then people in more than 170 countries celebrate this day with joy, by doing Yoga together in schools , parks and homes.
How I celebrated Yoga Day in my school…….
we organised a special Yoga program in my field area school . All the students and teachers took part with full energy and excitement .
Here’s how the program went …..
we started with the warmth up exercises to prepare the body. Then we did streching to relax the muscles. After that we began our Yoga Session , which included…..
Surya namskar ( sun salutation)
Padmasan (lotus pose) and sitting in meditation.
Anulom vilom and Pranayam (breathing technique)
and other asanas like Tadasan, vajrasan , and Shavasan .
Every child participated beautifully . Even the teachers joined in with great enthusiasm.
The entire school class was filled with peaceful energy.
Special Activity – Mandala Yoga
On this special day , I also introduced a unique Yoga experience called Mandala Yoga…………
What is mandala yoga ?
‘Mandala‘ means ‘Circle . In this yoga all participants sit in a round circle and do yoga together.
it creates a strong sense on unity , focus, and shared energy .
in our session :
students and teachers sat in a big round. We did meditation, breathing exercises and gentle yoga poses . Everyone felt calm , connected and peaceful . It was a beautiful moment like we were all connected in one energy one rhythm , it brought evryone together not just physically but emotionally.
A small thought in my mind …..
After a session ended, I sat quietly for few moments .one thought kept coming to my mind .
we give time everything work, family, mobile, social media but why don’t we give at least 20 min to ourselves?
Thats when i made a promise to myself from today I will give atleast time 20 min every day to do yoga for my body and mind .
Not just on Yoga Day for every Day …..
