When my co-fellow Nithin introduced me to the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) during training, he shared a link to register for a training program. At first, I was unsure about attending, but his recommendation carried weight. With a mix of curiosity and trust, I decided to apply—sometimes you just have to take a leap and see where it leads. To my surprise, not only did the opportunity unfold beautifully, but I was also joined by another friend for the training, making the experience even more enriching.
Being part of the five-day training on the effectiveness of schemes for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) turned out to be an incredible opportunity not just for me but also for my co-fellow. This enriching experience opened doors to valuable learning and insights into how tailored schemes can empower communities in need. It was a chance to engage deeply with a crucial subject and connect with like-minded individuals, all while broadening our perspectives on grassroots development.

Meeting individuals with vast experience and witnessing their enthusiasm for driving positive change was an inspiring start to my journey in the development sector. The training brought together diverse participants, each contributing unique perspectives and knowledge, making the discussions truly enriching. It was not just a learning experience but also a wonderful opportunity to connect, collaborate, and broaden my understanding of impactful work at the grassroots level.
The training schedule at NIRDPR Hyderabad was undeniably tight, with numerous topics packed into each day, leaving little room to breathe. However, the intensity was balanced by the exceptional arrangements made for snacks and meals, which came as a delightful surprise. The culinary offerings were not just satisfactory but far beyond expectations, turning every break into a moment of joy and rejuvenation. For tea enthusiasts, this place is a hidden gem, as the tea served during the sessions was nothing short of perfection. It’s easy to imagine tea lovers marking their calendars for future trainings, just to savor these moments again. Despite the packed agenda, these thoughtful details added warmth and comfort, making the entire experience not just productive but also immensely enjoyable and memorable.
This training proved to be a remarkable opportunity for networking, connecting me with many incredible individuals who are passionate about creating meaningful change. Among them, meeting Professor Mohanty Prakash was especially inspiring. His depth of knowledge and experience in the field left a lasting impression, sparking new ideas and perspectives on development work. Conversations with him felt like a masterclass in understanding the nuances of effective grassroots engagement and policy implementation. The training not only strengthened my technical understanding but also enriched me with a network of like-minded professionals who continue to motivate and uplift my journey in the development sector.
Despite his packed schedule, Professor Mohanty Prakash generously gave us an additional 40–50 minutes of his time to discuss our projects and interests. His willingness to listen and engage deeply was truly heartwarming. What stood out the most was his simplicity and genuine curiosity to learn new things, even when the work we presented wasn’t groundbreaking in itself. His open-mindedness and humility are incredibly admirable, reminding us all that a true expert is someone who never stops being a learner. This interaction left a profound impact on me, reaffirming the value of staying curious and approachable in any field of work.
The training sessions were genuinely engaging, as they incorporated a variety of activities designed to foster collaboration and interaction. Working in groups was a particularly rewarding experience, as it provided an excellent opportunity for each of us to connect and learn more about our fellow trainees. These activities were not only stimulating but also effective in breaking barriers, encouraging discussions, and building camaraderie among participants. It was remarkable how the structured group tasks paved the way for deeper understanding and mutual respect, making the learning process both enjoyable and impactful. This collaborative environment truly enhanced the overall quality of the training, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.

Reflecting on my time at the NIRDPR Hyderabad training, it’s clear that this experience was much more than just a learning opportunity—it was a journey of growth, connection, and inspiration. From engaging sessions and collaborative activities to inspiring mentors like Professor Mohanty Prakash and the camaraderie built with fellow trainees, every moment added immense value to my personal and professional journey. The well-thought-out schedule, coupled with thoughtful touches like exceptional food and tea, made the training both productive and memorable. This experience has not only deepened my understanding of development work but has also reinforced my commitment to creating meaningful change. I carry forward these lessons, networks, and memories with gratitude and a renewed enthusiasm for the path ahead.
