Greeting Readers, I’m Ronid, a Career Enhancing Fellowship Fellow placed in Jharsuguda, Odisha. In my six-month journey, I’ve faced enriching experiences and unexpected challenges, one of which is loneliness. It’s a real feeling and I know many of you can relate. Let’s explore it together.

Starting my fellowship, I dove into the vibrant community of Jharsuguda. Meeting new people and learning the local culture has been amazing. But admits all this, I’ve felt lonely, especially in a new place far from home.
Feeling Lost in the Middle: During my fellowship, I often feel alone especially at night when there’s no one to talk to. This sense of isolation leaves me stranded in the middle, craving companionship and longing for someone to talk to. Its confusing and isolating, making me feel like I’m not fully belonging anywhere.
Reason Behind the Loneliness: Loneliness is not just about being physically alone; it’s a feeling disconnected and misunderstood. Starting in a new location and meeting new people can be overwhelming. However, navigating tough situation on your own can leave you isolated in your thoughts.
Know That You’re Not alone: But here’s the thing- You’re not alone in feeling this way. Many of us in the fellowship have experienced loneliness. It’s like a shared journey we’re all on, and together, we can support each other through it.
Tips for Beating the Loneliness: Reach out to your fellow fellows. They’re experiencing similar feelings, so why not lean on each other for support? Building connections with the residents and attendings can also help. They understand what you are going through and can offer valuable insights.
Seeking Support and Resilience: Despite the loneliness, I’ve learned to seek support and cultivate resilience. Whether through connection with others or finding solace in doing what we actually like, there are ways to navigate through loneliness with determination and self-awareness.
In Conclusion, joining this fellowship has been the best decision I’ve made. The support getting from the mentors and my fellow fellows has been invaluable. However, fellowship can be lonely like any other, so remember, you’re not alone in feeling this way. It’s natural part of journey, but by acknowledging it and reaching out for support, we can make fellowship a little less lonely for everyone. So, lets stick together, support each other and remember that brighter days are ahead.
